You have 7 days and counting to take advantage of the tax credits…

Contrary to popular belief, the world will not end once the first time home buyer tax credit runs out. People will still be moving, buying, selling, etc. You can’t stop that giant wheel of commerce with one little spike. So what does that mean for those of us not in a position to take advantage of the credits? We will be able to find even better deals as the market re-adjusts.

If you have been itching to get into a second home, investment, or even a newer home I would wait two weeks and ride out the credit. I wouldn’t wait too long though as the interest rates on loans are gradually indicating that they will rise.

1. You only have to be under contract by April 30th, you can have until June 30th to close.

2. If you have lived in your existing home for five years or more, you can buy a new home and keep the other as a rental, getting $6500 from the government to do so!

3. The Tax credit was extended until the end of this month and the $6500 dollar was added to help people who want to get into real estate investing or buy a nicer/smaller/different home.

4. You will likely qualify for a mortgage if you have a steady job, it doesn’t hurt to try and take advantage of today’s tax credits and rates.

5. Many local cities have additional programs that you can get even more money from. Cities like Salt Lake, West Jordan, Riverton, and Draper are just a few. Get an addition $3000-$10000 dollars from local governments to combine with the other tax credits available.
